Finding
healthy ways to recharge oneself and prevent burnout is an
important skill to develop. Today’s demanding work
environment, coupled with a busy home life, can result in
unwanted stress and burnout. Burnout is defined as
“to fail, wear out, or become exhausted due to excessive demands
on one’s strength, resources, and energy.” Burnout takes its
toll physically, emotionally, and mentally. This is bad for employees and costly to employers.
Luckily,
burnout can be prevented and managed with the proper
information, action, and support. Recharge Yourself:
Preventing Burnout is an important first step. This session
will include:

description of the causes, signs and symptoms of burnout

questionnaire that participants will complete to assess
their personal risk for burnout

Short-term actions that can be done to prevent and
recuperate from burnout

Long-term
solutions to prevent and recover from burnout

Management’s role in preventing burnout (covered when
appropriate)
